Austin Community College District
Angelica Cancino Sandoval currently serves as the director of basic needs and advocacy at Austin Community College District, where she leads district-wide initiatives that support students’ access to essential resources such as food, housing, child care, and emergency aid. With a career dedicated to advancing equity in higher education, Angelica has built collaborative systems that ensure students and families not only persist in college but thrive in their academic and personal lives.
Her work emphasizes cross-campus partnerships, outreach, and needs assessment to connect under-resourced students with the support they need to succeed. She is also deeply committed to advocating for parenting students, foster care alumni, and other populations navigating unique challenges in higher education.
Angelica brings her passion for building holistic, student-centered support structures and her belief that when families’ basic needs are met, educational opportunity becomes truly accessible.
She earned her master’s degree of art in counseling, St. Edward's University, a bachelor's degree of science in communications, and a certification as a poverty coach by Donna Beegle's Poverty Institute.
